New SPLRA!!
Posted by Frank Claycomb on: 06-24-2010
Well now, this is a rather new development. I have talked to the old team and it seems they are on board in much the same capacity (well almost all of them are). Last night I spent time pulling the old site down, setting up a LAMP on my machine, and moving the index page over to using templates. That went extremely well. The main pages should be done some time next week (could be done tonight if I was going to be home but alas I shall be gone till Sunday). Once the main pages are done then the real work begins. Thanks for staying loyal all these years, it has not gone unnoticed.

New SPLRA?!
Posted by Frank Claycomb on: 06-23-2010
Hello legion of faithfuls! As you can tell SPLRA has been stagnate for some time, at least the main page. I am now older, wiser, and more mature in my development. I now know xTemplates for php which would have worked much better than the "template" system that I had developed. Development has been going for some time behind the scenes. I have a major redesign of the site with removal of the wiki in mind. If this ever comes to fruition is a good question. As most of you have noticed The Smashing Pumpkins are back, or rather Billy and Jimmy, wait scratch that... Just Billy now. Listening to them is not an enjoyable experience, least the new stuff (imho at least). The "reunion" was so bad that it ruined the old stuff for me. I have deleted most all of my stuff to make space for new, more important things (I could fill it with MCR boots, the new stuff sounds about the same). Either way, SPLRA is here to stay, in this incarnation at least. Milan and I have not forgotten. We chat about SPLRA when we talk.
So new direction I say?! Well first the parser would need rewritten, data rescrubbed, and the viewer rewritten... Not to mention an editor created for the new data. The editor is the hardest thing. I do know JQuery now (think iGoogle) so I can easily make a graphical editor.
Tied into that is the feature of changing the look of the database viewer; same as moving around the pods on your personal iGoogle page. This is a rather trivial task to accomplish when using JQuery, specifically Interface Elements for JQuery.
Either way, take this news item in good faith. SPLRA may return, at least a new front page while retaining the wiki. I am about sick of this design too. Needs more web 2.0 sprinkled in. You guys know where to find me, hit me up, let me know what you think. I can tell by the numbers that we still have quite a few users of this site (about the same amount we did back when TSP was still good).

Status Update
Posted by Frank Claycomb on: 11-11-2007
Hello all,
We have not forgotten about you. I can assure you that at some point all of the new features here at SPLRA will be out, but some may be omitted. The main feature up on the chopping block is the bootlist. I cannot really see a reason to have this now that the Pumpkins are part of the LMA. Since the bootlist feature will be removed there is really no reason to have a user system either (such as private messages). If people want to communicate then they can and will use netphoria. The forums will be gone too. I have said this before, the forums were more of a way to get a user system added to SPLRA. I never intended the forums to take off. Once again, there is Netphoria for all of your forum needs. Most everything else will remain intact that I have been saying would appear. The work that I have left to do on SPLRA is very small, but I cannot find the time right now to work on it. Maybe a few $$ would help me find the time. After all, we did just pay for hosting out of our pockets this year.

HTML and CSS position filled
Posted by Frank Claycomb on: 06-18-2007
Hello all,
The html and css position have been filled. Over the next few weeks he and I will start working to move over all of the new features that I have coded the back end for. Quite frankly I cannot justify taking the time to write html when there is so much work that needs to be done in php. Thanks to all that have shown interest but I have chose Will Lynn.
At any rate, be on the lookout for new features coming soon.
