They opened with Geek USA. The rest was a standard hodge-podge of SD and Gish, can't remember what it was now, though.
They opened with Geek USA. I remember Snail.

Most notable (at the time) was that they played Frail and Bedazzled (which I swore I heard him introduce as "Frail and Beguiled"), Bullet With Butterfly Wings (I remembered the "rat in a cage" line), and a song that was introduced as "new" and very much resembled Porcelina in structure. (But my memory isn't good enough to remember if it was. I just remember the feeling of it building up for a long time, feeling very spacey, and then exploding, and my friend and I going "wow!") Since none of those songs were out on record yet, we were treated to a very special show indeed.

Odd: Before it came out on record, I remembered a different arrangement for the song that had the "rat in a cage" line. I assume that they really played Bullet With Butterfly Wings, but honestly, I remember it having more of a beat like "Jesus Loves His Babies," if you can believe it. Could've been a different song in which Billy was just using the "rat in a cage" line.

Anyway, I would kill for a copy of this show, if not to settle the score about whether we heard an alternate arrangement of BWBW or just the same-old version, and whether we heard the first-ever performance of Porcelina.

Banter

When James took the stage, he touched the end of the guitar cord to his head before plugging it in. It buzzed. He acted like it was kind of stimulating. Funny!
