[Corgan introduces the band members…] Corgan: Now, as some of you may know, we recently passed the landmark 25 years since the first Smashing Pumpkins show. And as I was being asphyxiated on the Eurostar train today... yes. I was thinking about, uh, how many times I've come here to play... London Astoria... Brixton Academy... Shepherds Bush... The Underground [Underworld, 1991]... And I just wanted to say... Excuse me? What? I'm not gonna name every place that I've played [unintelligible] okay? Usually when I talk too much I get in trouble, which is not a good thing for the show - I talk. So I don't talk anymore, I just play music now. So all those fucking turds in your media can shove it up their fucking ass. […]
You know, I was thinking... I was thinking how much I appreciate your culture, because the bands that inspired me most came from here. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, [unintelligible, Beatles?] The Rolling Stones, Wishbone Ash... No, not which one Ash, but... Pink Floyd. So, if it wasn't for those great artists I wouldn't be here, we wouldn't be here. So I appreciate London so much, and I don't always show it...um.. You know, when we first came over here, Billy, James, D'arcy, and Jimmy [applause]… they didn't quite understand... the rock. And quite honestly, they still don't understand the fucking rock, okay? If I hear one more song Whoa-o-o-o-o, I'm gonna fucking shoot myself. What the fuck happened? Whoa-o nation. Anyway, I just wanna say how much I appreciate you, and I don't always say it, but I wanted to say it tonight, so thank you for being here. [applause] So before we get to go back to those... dusty classics, we'd like to play one more song from the Oceania album... [cheers] Thank you. It is the title track, the title Oceania.
